Hey, I’m Sara!

My passion for storytelling began in 2012, and everyday I search for ways to create, capture, and transform art.

With AphroNoire Studios, I capture authentic stories as a videographer and photographer.

With The Baddest Bacchanalist, I provide commentary via video podcast.

With my namesake, I research, experiment, and cultivate as a student artist.

2023-2024 Projects

Homeland. Montage by Sara Anjanie. Voice over and animation by Menel Rehab.

October 2023 marked the beginning of The Second Nakba, the genocide of the Palestinian people. Contrasting against archival footage, this montage-animation forges a link between past and present as the atrocities committed against Palestine continues on.

This project transformed archival footage with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe After Effects.

Bosom in Bloom. By Léa Michetti, Sara Anjanie, Edgie Julien and Chau Dinh.

With paper maché and audio references to pop culture movies, Bosom in Blossom is an interactive book that acts as a celebration, appreciation, and recognition of our own femininity.

This project used Makey Makey as the main interactive element.

Branching Within. By Vrishti Busgopal, Sara Anjanie and Edgie Julien.

Our brain is a complex web of life that works in many different ways, simultaneously and continuously sparking connections with every breath, thought, and movement. Branching Within explores what the brain would look like as a physical, accessible world on its own.

This project was created with Unity, a game development software specializing in 2-D, 3-D, and 4-D world creations.

BuyWell. By Noaf Abuhassan, Sara Anjanie, Edgie Julien and Léa Michetti.

As the world succumbs to a global economic and housing crisis, archival footage of spending practices amongst the success of franchise stores brought forth emotions of unfamiliarity and envy. With a visual and aural transformation, we aimed to challenge the image of wealth and what it intrinsically means to buy well.

This project used Adobe After Effects to create the animation and Mad Mapper to project it onto the sign.
